Sky Broadband has today announced its latest, ambitious brand building campaign with the launch of Sky City, a custom-built world created in Fortnite. Sky Broadband has created a bespoke gaming environment that continues to reinforce its ambition to be the #1 broadband supplier for gamers. Throughout Sky City, players will find seamless and authentic references to Sky Broadband, alongside other Sky brands, which blend in with and enrich the world without overshadowing the player experience. 16 players will enter the map via a series of speed rails, a core feature of Sky Broadband, as a glimpse of Sky City comes into view. This vibrant, fast-paced environment is designed for rooftop battles, where players use speed rails and launch pads to gain a competitive edge. The campaign brings streamers and their audiences together in a first-of-its-kind battle. This unique activation enables Sky Broadband to engage with a core audience that traditional media isn’t able to reach.
The campaign will kick off with a hype video introducing Sky City and the Speed Showdown tournament. Gaming creators, Sunpi, Tubbo, Archie and LittleBunny, will show their support for launch and promote their first livestream, galvanising their audience to take part in the first-of-its kind battle.
The tournament will consist of a series of livestream events which allow players to battle alongside their favourite creators, engage in challenges and win real-world prizes from Sky Broadband. Highlights of the tournament will be posted on Sky UK & influencer channels on a weekly basis.
Sunny Bhurji, Sky Connectivity’s marketing director said: “I’m super excited about the launch of Sky City and the Speed Showdown activation as it once again demonstrates how Sky Broadband is essential to its gaming customers. It’s a first-of-its-kind tournament that really brings streamers and their audiences together and is all powered by Sky Broadband. I can’t wait to see the players in our Sky City Map, created in Fortnite.“
Ruby 'RubyPlays' Allenby, Guild Esports Professional Fortnite Player added: "As a pro Fortnite player and streamer, I can't wait to introduce my viewers to Sky City. This map is an awesome mix of smart and competitive gameplay elements and subtle references to Sky Broadband and other Sky brands. It’s clear how much effort has gone into making sure the branding is delivered as an authentic part of the player experience. Sky City’s visuals are stunning, the game features are fast-paced, and I know everyone will enjoy it as much as I do.”
In this Free-For-All elimination battle, the first player to earn 30 Eliminations wins. Sky City’s intricate layout offers a multitude of tactics. Players can utilize the sprawling rooftops for cover, navigate through hidden tunnels, and leverage their speed and agility to outmanoeuvre opponents. Not to mention the regular speed event that emits from the main building at the heart of the city, powered by Sky Broadband. The dynamic environment ensures that no two battles are ever the same, delivering endless excitement and challenge.
