Boutique production company Someplace Nice today announces the signing of Karen Cunningham to its roster, for exclusive representation in Canada.
Karen’s films boast compelling stories told with cinematic flair, making them wonderfully engaging, re-watchable, and powerful. Renowned for the extraordinary naturalistic performances she gleans from real people, Karen is particularly passionate about casting, determined to find authentic characters with genuine depth, warmth, and charm.
Among Karen’s highlights are the purpose-driven campaigns she has directed for UNICEF and Save The Children, as well as Barbie’s ‘Imagine the Possibilities’. With over 60 million YouTube views and a Cannes Silver Lions under its belt, it was recently voted in the top 100 of The World’s Best Ads of All Time by The Drum.
Karen has also garnered a plethora of other awards - including several British Arrows, multiple Webbys, a Kinsale Shark, and an AICP Gold - and is a member of BAFTA, the Directors Guild of America, D&AD, and Free The Work.
Now at Someplace Nice, Karen will be establishing herself in the Canadian market, guided by executive producers Chilo Fletcher and Estelle Weir.
Karen Cunningham comments, “I was drawn into Someplace Nice by the chemistry I instantly felt chatting to Chilo Fletcher and Estelle Weir, and the plans they had for me. I can’t wait for what’s in store!”
Chilo Fletcher, partner and executive producer at Someplace Nice, adds, “Someplace Nice is celebrating 10 years in business this year and our roster has changed significantly over the years - we now represent a lot more top-tier international talent and Karen's work is certainly top-shelf! She has a brilliant rapport working with real people and kids and it really shows in the work. There is a ton of heart, charm and naturalism that pours out of her films all while the work is keenly considered photographically.”
