‘Depression.’ A word that quickly crosses our lips. But who really knows what depression feels like?
"Come on, pull yourself together", "Go outside, take a walk" – these are pieces of advice that people affected by depression are confronted with again and again. But these tips rarely help, on the contrary. The feeling of not being taken seriously and of being misunderstood is reinforced.
According to recent WHO research from 2020, depression will be the world's greatest burden in less than 10 years.
Driven by this outlook, three graduates of Salzburg University of Applied Sciences who have studied Multi Media Art set themselves the goal of conceiving an enlightening short film on the subject of depression.
Christoph Amort, Patricia Neuhauser and Christoph Platzer together form the ‘Kollektiv Senfblau’, which is mainly dedicated to social issues and wants to break social taboos cinematically.
With the financial support of the Christian Köster Prize and the technical production support of Soup Film, ‘Kollektiv Senfblau’ has succeeded in creating a short film that gets under your skin. The Christian Köster Prize is awarded annually to the best film idea that has not yet been realised.
Together with the Berlin film production company, a social spot was created that appeals to both people with and without the disease. It is about creating awareness, breaking down barriers and building understanding.
