Editorial house Spot Welders has earned nominations in multiple categories on the 2019 AICP Post Awards Shortlist for its work with Fox Sports and Wieden+Kennedy NY.
The competition, formerly the AICE Awards, honors excellence in a range of post-production crafts including editing, color grading, audio mixing, sound design, visual effects, CGI, animation and design. The campaign, directed by MJZ’s Craig Gillespie, and edited by Haines Hall and Paul Sabater, received recognition in the Best of West category as well as Editorial: National Campaign category.
Each spot of the Fox campaign depicts ordinary sports fans chatting up Thursday Night Football on Fox in everyday situations and activities. Featuring rhythmic banter and fast hits of players crashing together juxtaposed with animal shots characterizing team mascots and hard-hitting football action, the ads serve as mini-love letters for dearly devoted football fanatics. Through the spots’ fast-paced editing and smooth-tongued dialog, each ad’s frames demonstrate how each fan is schooled in the game, the teams, and the face-off.
