What does switching banks and switching NBA Teams have in common? As the February 9th NBA trade deadline approaches, Tangerine wants to show Canadians the reasons for making moves are remarkably similar.

Playing off our partnership with the NBA, WNBA and, of course, as the official bank of the Toronto Raptors and their fans, we are excited to promote “trade season” in our latest campaign.” Says Nicole German, chief marketing officer, Tangerine.
Hot on the heels of Tangerine’s recent Bank Shot Account initiative, this latest campaign which illustrates why a customer would switch to Tangerine using all the trappings of an NBA trade deadline press conference, strengthens that connection even more.
“We realised that the reasons why you’d sign with a new bank and sign with a new basketball team are almost identical,” says Jamie Marcovitch, ECD at john st. “Changing needs, a brighter future, and of course, more money,” continues Jamie.
In their latest spot 'Make the Move' the specific reason a young father switches 'teams' is quite possibly the ultimate sports cliché… for his family. And to bring this to life he’s brought his fidgeting daughter along for the press conference. Jamie added: “I think we’ve all seen NBA press conferences where a player’s young child steals the show, so for fans of the game, it’s a nice little nod to that.”
The campaign communication will be supported through television, social and digital, airing during basketball broadcasts.
