Paul Round began his VFX journey as a runner at MPC before transitioning into a VT assistant and then becoming a Harry operator

The Mill, part of the Technicolor Group, has hired VFX supervisor, Paul Round. Paul joins an exceptionally talented 2D team under the expert guidance of Dan Lorenzini, head of 2D.

Paul brings with him a wealth of experience, having worked across an extensive list of remarkable films and commercials throughout his career. Paul began his VFX journey as a runner at MPC before transitioning into a VT assistant and then becoming a Harry operator. When Flame was released, he worked on the first two projects to ever use the tool: a Grundig commercial and the launch commercial for the National Lottery.

After more than 10 years at MPC as head of the Harry/Flame department, Paul joined The Mill where he contributed to the first film resolution projects, including a Benson and Hedges commercial for South Africa and Terry Gilliam’s Twelve Monkeys. Paul eventually moved to VTR to lead their new Flame department before joining Peerless Camera Company, where he stayed for 22 years!

During his time at what is now PLSvfx, Paul worked on a range of remarkable projects, including three Bond films: 'Casino Royale', 'Skyfall', and 'Spectre', for which he supervised two shots on set. His extensive experience includes on-set and in-house supervision. Most recently, Paul supervised on set were 'The Singapore Grip', a six-part ITV series filmed in Malaysia and 'Judy', a biopic of Judy Garland starring Renée Zellweger. And we can't forget to mention the last project Paul supervised in-house at PLSvfx; Guy Ritchie's 'Gentlemen', a Netflix hit!

One sequence Paul is particularly proud of is a 5,000+ frame shot in 'Alien: Covenant', where Michael Fassbender plays both David and Walter, teaching Walter to play the flute.

As The Mill continues to innovate across the global studios, talent remains a vital part of that process, and the team are very excited to have Paul on board.
