The Sun Military Awards, known as The Millies, are the only national awards for Britain’s Armed Forces, recognising the excellence and bravery of Servicemen and women operating from home and abroad. The Sun appointed The Outfit, without a pitch, to oversee the TV sponsorship idents for the awards. It is the sixth year The Sun has hosted the Military Awards, but the first year the newspaper has sponsored the TV broadcast of the event also. Conceived by The Sun at the request of Prince Charles six years ago, The Millies are an exceptional opportunity to honour the heroic sacrifices our troops make in keeping us safe.
“The Sun have always backed Britain’s Armed Forces, and The Outfit are thrilled to have been invited to create and produce the campaign which will highlight the heritage, support and commitment the paper has had through the years for our troops.” Charlie Read, co-founder of The Outfit
The sponsorship package also includes extensive digital activity on The Sun website and VOD on ITV Player. The TV campaign will go live next week, with post production by Envy.
The awards ceremony and dinner will take place tonight at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich (televised Monday, December 16 at 9pm, listed as “A Night of Heroes: The Sun's Military Awards”) and will be attended by Government ministers, military chiefs and leading celebrities.
‘The Outfit were our first choice for the sponsorship deal; we needed specialists that are imaginative, creative and responsive. The Sun Military Awards is a jewel in our crown and we are hugely proud of our involvement," said Nick Stringer, Director of Marketing Communications, News UK.
