The executive producer and founder of ALIBI Music on a classic Chunky candy bar ad and why he loves working on creative projects
Jonathan Parks is an executive producer and the founder of ALIBI Music, a leading provider of professional production music and sound effects for license in advertising, trailers, promos, programming, video games and all other forms of multimedia content.

Since launching the company in 2011, Jonathan has tapped a passion for music and meticulous approach to data in developing an editor’s dream catalogue: tracks that are on trend and designed to evolve, build, emote and cut, all wrapped in a seamless, high-quality licensing experience.

LBB> The ad/music video from my childhood that stays with me…

Jonathan> From my childhood it would be the Chunky Candy Bar commercial singing 'Chunky’s Back' over the tune of 'My Boyfriend’s Back' by The Angels. I remember singing this one a lot.

LBB> The ad/music video/game/web platform that made me want to get into the industry…

Jonathan> The first cassette I asked for as a kid was 'Beethoven’s 9th' because of 'Die Hard'. At that time I didn’t know that music for picture was not just one job but a whole industry which I learned of after moving to LA to figure out what part of the music industry was most fitting for myself and my skillsets.

LBB> The creative work (film/album/game/ad/album/book/poem etc) that I keep revisiting…

Jonathan> There are too many to list but a couple of them are any Black Crowes album and any Will Ferrell movie

LBB> My first professional project…

Jonathan> I don’t remember the project but know it was a trailer through Universal Studios.

LBB> The piece of work (ad/music video/ platform…) that made me so angry that I vowed to never make anything like *that*…

Jonathan> Can’t say I get angry at other people’s work and definitely never say never. Sometimes things just work even though it’s not necessarily what someone’s personal tastes are.

LBB> The piece of work (ad/music video/ platform…) that still makes me jealous…

Jonathan> I mean so many. The amount of talent I see and hear on everything is mind-blowing!

LBB> The creative project that changed my career…

Jonathan> Definitely no one project but an endless series of projects that helped me in my growth of collaborating with other creative talented creative professionals

LBB> The work that I’m proudest of…

Jonathan> Most proud of ALIBI itself as a piece of work with an incredible team that continues to grow in their abilities and mindsets that have all been integral to creating the most meticulous, highest quality, and most searchable catalogue of music for film/TV/advertising in the world.

LBB> I was involved in this and it makes me cringe…

Jonathan> Nothing I can think of and hopefully even the "cringiest" of projects was entertaining to the intended audience.

LBB> The recent project I was involved in that excited me the most…

Jonathan> All of them. No matter what the project we love the process of being able to provide creative solutions and inspirations for it.

Whether it be a Mercedes ad, a pharmaceutical commercial, a trailer for 'Wonka' or any other major film, reality shows, or independent content creation.

Am forever grateful to be able to work with so many talented people on creative projects that have impact on so many. Whether it be entertainment, an ad that effectively rises awareness of a product to increase the revenue of a company so they can keep making what they make, or anything else.

We love being one of the many moving parts of the process part of the final creations that reaches and effect so many viewers.
