There’s No CG in This Title Announcement for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Rocket Film's Klaus Obermeyer directed the title reveal film for the highly anticipated forthcoming Amazon Series 'Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power'. Obermeyer worked together with expert foundryman and metal artist Landon Ryan and legendary Hollywood SFX pioneer and artist Douglas Trumbull on the film. Made without using computer graphics, the film follows molten metal moving through carvings in a sustainably sourced slab of redwood, which was captured using a 4K camera system.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will premiere on September 2, 2022. Set thousands of years before the stories within J.R.R. Tolkien’s "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings," the epic drama will follow the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth's history, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil.
