Boldly and production partner, Trust announce the worldwide release of an evocative short film directed by Andrew De Zen, available to watch now through Vimeo.
Let This Feeling Go, which had its World Premiere at the esteemed HollyShorts Film Festival, follows a young woman dealing with her desperate desires for self-expression after being bottled up.
The piece, centred around Nina Simone's iconic song 'Sinnerman,' is a visual and auditory masterpiece shot on Kodak 65mm film, one of the few short films to have ever done so. This large format of analogue filmmaking is typically reserved for select Hollywood films like Oppenheimer. Boldly and Andrew were lucky to be able to source the leftover stock from Alejandro G Iñárritu’s The Revenant to shoot Let This Feeling Go. The beautifully composed cinematography by Cole Graham is saturated with vivid colours, creating a visual language that matches both the stillness and intensity of this one-woman show. The result is a cacophony of rich imagery and fluctuating music that collides in a powerful crescendo. Andrew De Zen’s vision from the very beginning was to capture the feeling of letting it all go in a breathless frenzy of catharsis.
Nina Simone's 'Sinnerman' serves as the heartbeat and inspiration for the film. Originally recorded in the early 1960s, 'Sinnerman' is a powerful track that speaks to themes of redemption and the human condition. The song's relentless rhythm filled with dark thundering sounds provides a compelling backdrop for the film's exploration of inner conflict and the need for self-expression.
Boldly proudly adds Let This Feeling Go to its distinguished slate of original films, which have graced international film festivals and garnered significant accolades.
