Campaign by Marcel Sydney and Academy directors Dorian & Daniel showcases creative young talent
Academy directing duo, Dorian & Daniel, are behind the new global film for Asian brand, Tiger Beer.
‘The Uncaged’ showcases real emerging creative talent from around the world; an eclectic group of young people from fields as diverse as dance, technology, fashion, art and food.
The film marks the arrival of emerging Academy directors, Dorian & Daniel, famous for shooting some the best known pro-bono films for Johnnie Walker and Volvo while still at film school.
“What interested us about the film was that we got to play with human perception and mislead the audience”, recalls Dorian. “Often, you will instinctively judge someone based on their age, appearance or background. This film sought to challenge these preconceptions, and that is what really resonated with us when we read the script. It gives the The Uncaged a platform.”
Daniel further highlights what drew them to the project. “When Wes and the team at Marcel Sydney approached us, we were instantly drawn to the film’s central theme of ‘anybody can be a somebody’. This ethos ran through everything we did. Not only were we promoting emerging talent, like Mei, Roxxxan, Hua and Joel, we were also given the opportunity to direct our first global brand spot, so the core idea was relevant on every level”.
