Taking tastebuds on a journey back in time, The Coca-Cola Company is bringing back its #WhatTheFanta campaign for its fifth iteration.
In this wild and wacky spot crafted by Heckler Singapore, alongside Ogilvy APAC and director duo Henri&Sebastian of Simon & Paul, viewers are invited to have a go at guessing the new mystery flavours while being taken on a nostalgic, dizzying ride through a world full of cassette tapes, flip-phones, vintage Fanta commercials, and '90s video game tropes.
In collaboration with Indonesia-based illustrator and motion designer, Ardhira Putra, Heckler Singapore was tasked with re-imagining Ardhira’s signature hyper-coloured and funky '90s universe via the introduction of 2D cel-animated elements. Real world talents get transformed into 2D characters who skate, jump, and leap their way around exploding fruits and UFOs in this retro-remix Fanta world.
Heckler Singapore senior VFX producer Xinhui Zheng says, “This was a super fun piece for the whole team! With Ardhira’s world set up in a 3D space, it gave us the liberty to really push the limits of how dynamic we can get with the camera angles and movements for our base environment plates. Then throw in our 2D cel-animation partners Frederick Venet and CRUX to the mix, and it’s pretty much a guaranteed wild and zany masterpiece.”
