Troye Sivan Works with Studio RM for Playful, Throwback Video ‘One of Your Girls’

Pop icon Troye Sivan has released his latest video clip ‘One of Your Girls,’ with Studio RM handling colour grade and beauty finishing. The video coincides with the release of Sivan’s new album ‘Something To Give Each Other’, and follows on from his promotional clips for singles ‘Rush’ and ‘Got Me Started.’ 

Directed by Troye Sivan’s creative director Gordon Von Steiner, with grading by Studio RM’s Myles Bevan, the video is the throwback to the stark, dance-heavy music videos of the early noughties. The clip begins with elegant, a diverse black and white montage of men, but soon turns into a vision of Y2K excess - Sivan transforming into “one of the girls” he sings about, with wispy blonde locks, low-rise jeans, and glowing, sunkissed skin.

The film is a playful portal to the past, bearing the influence of Britney Spears’ fashion styling and dance choreography of the new millennium. This is achieved in part through Studio RM’s expert retouching, which gives skin a dewy, glistening finish. This nostalgia is also underscored by Myles’ grade, in which bold skin tones and flashes of vibrant colour contrast with the plain, crisp white backdrop. ‘One of Your Girls’ follows Myles’ recent grades for music promos including ROMY’s ‘The Sea’ (directed by Somesuch’s Mollie Mills), Peggy Gou’s ‘NaNaNa’ (directed by Somesuch’s Thomas Hardiman), and London Grammar and CamelPhat’s ‘Higher’ (directed by waxwork).

Studio RM is partnering with the UK Music Video Awards once again, and will be sponsoring the prestigious award for Best Colour Grading In A Video at this year's UKMVAs for the second year running.
