Event from 180heartbeats + JUNG v MATT saw art galleries, museums and cultural institutions open late to members of the public

During this year's Night of Museums on May 13th, in the centre of Warsaw, a pavilion of the Capital City of Warsaw was created by 180heartbeats + JUNG v MATT, where technology supported the art created by guests. Participants of the event, thanks to the assistance of artificial intelligence, had a chance to turn into modern masters of art without the use of paints.

In the Night of Museums, art galleries, museums and cultural institutions are not only open until late at night, but also organise special attractions, such as performances by artists, visiting parts of objects that are usually closed or themed refreshments. In Warsaw, the event was organised for the 19th time, and 270 institutions, including the Capital City of Warsaw, took part.

The zone, planned by the City of Warsaw, was a modern installation in the centre that promotes creative thinking among fans of new technologies. The activities proposed to visitors took into account unconventional interaction with art and the use of the latest multimedia solutions for this purpose. The planned space was intended to give visitors a chance to become painters of the future. This happened thanks to tablets on which guess sketched a picture and briefly described it, and then let artificial intelligence (AI) paint the rest.

AI's generation of graphics requires the algorithm to know the right parameters, which prompts the AI to draw creative inspiration from reality. The image created from the sketch and text, was displayed on screens located in the zone. Thus, anyone could become an author of works in the digital art gallery that night.

"We really like projects that combine technology with culture and art. This time, in order to surprise Museum Night participants with something out of the ordinary, we used AI and the deep-learning model - Stable Diffusion. Our installation allows the use of sketches prepared on tablets by zone visitors and additional text descriptions that give clues as to the creative idea. This is new, as until now all interactions with text-to-image models that generate graphics were done only through text. In working on the zone, we used the capabilities of the latest Stable Diffusion extension, which gives the user more control over the generated graphics through sketches. Participants of the event were able to feel like real artists." explains Adrian Jaskulski, Innovation and Strategy Consultant at 180heartbeats + JUNG v MATT agency.

The organisers also encouraged people to share the created works on social media with the hashtag #nocmuzeów2023.

180heartbeats + JUNG v MATT was responsible for the creative concept, design and overall production of the event. This was not the first project implemented by the agency for the Capital City of Warsaw, as well as not the first one done with the use of AI technology.
