Emily becomes head of partnerships, telling LBB’s Casey Martin she is honoured to be a part of a team that is “naturally dynamic and considered for all involved”
Emily Crews, previously Warner Music Australia’s vice president, brands and synchronisation, has joined Level Two Music as its head of partnerships.

“It feels like the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both Level Two Music as well as me personally,” Emily told LBB. “I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

After almost two decades of working at major record labels including Universal Music Group and Warner Music Australia, Emily has learnt the “ins and outs of the alluring yet complex industry” during times of change and growth. The biggest shift in her career has been harnessing the skills of synchronisation licensing as well as commercial partnerships between artists and brands.

Jen Taunton, managing director at Level Two Music, said, “Karl [Richter, owner at Level Two] and I have known Emily for around 15 years through her work with Universal and Warner and been impressed by her ability to navigate through often complex and layered deals, always managing to find the ‘sweet spot’.

“When I became managing director earlier this year, Emily was the first person I wanted to bring into our team, to help our clients increase the value of their campaigns through thoughtful, integrated opportunities with artists.”

Emily described Level Two’s approach as “naturally dynamic and considered for all involved.”

“Coming from a rights holder position where Level Two were a top client of mine for many years, I feel they’ve evolved due to a natural curiosity for the world and space they’re in but also in part due to the changes both industries have faced,” she said.

“Having worked with incredible artists across many integrated projects, and as leaders in the music supervision space, I was honoured when Level Two invited me to join the team to head up and facilitate partnerships.”

Level Two Music is “continually reimagining the role of music supervision,” according to Jen.

It’s focused on “supporting local artists alongside community, industry and education initiatives. Offering pathways for historically underrepresented groups. We have a wide array of projects in the pipeline with industry partners that we can’t wait to see come to light,” Jen said.

Emily said she “gravitated towards the brand partnerships area of the business developing strategies for the Warner roster as a way of helping both clients and our artists to look at what might be possible in the space and I haven’t looked back.

“At Level Two, I’m looking forward to finding the best possible opportunities for our clients through our endless network of artists, labels, publishers, and managers.”
