He joins the agency after a four year stint at Innocean, reports LBB’s Casey Martin
Wez Hawes, the ECD at Innocean, is set to depart the agency to join 72andSunny as its chief creative officer.

Wez joins the agency following previous 72andSunny ECD Scott McClelland's exit to focus on his role as creative director at Good Sports.

Ross Berthinussen, president of 72andSunny ANZ said, “We are thrilled that Wez is joining Laura, myself and the 72andSunny team in ANZ as chief creative officer, ANZ. Our founding belief is a belief in Optimism, in finding opportunity in any challenge, and Wez is the embodiment of that ethos."

"Over the last few years we have experienced incredible momentum and are looking forward to how he can help us build on that by fostering our collaborative, creative culture and delivering what we get out of bed for every day, radical, culturally led ideas that grow our client partners' brands and business.”

Jasmin Bedir, CEO of Innocean, said, “Wez and I had four amazing years together as a team. He is a lovely human, and we’ll of course miss him, but change is inevitable.

“We will make an announcement on our new creative leadership in due course.”

Wez joined Innocean in 2020 and has worked on clients such as Kia, White Ribbon, and The Australian Marine Conservation Society. He is also the co-creator of FCK the Cupcakes, alongside Jasmin, and Love Our Work, with Paper Moose’s Jeremy Willmott.

Previously, he worked at agencies including BBH, TBWA, and Marcel.

During his time at BBH London from 2011 to 2014, Wez remembers feeling like “a rare kind of alien species sent to Earth to inspire, entertain and to do good.” As ECD at TBWA/Australia from 2014 to 2016, he won 20+ pitches, including Foxtel, Virgin Mobile, ANZ, David Jones, and M.J. Bale.

At Innocean, his work for the Australian Marine Conservation Society saw him create the ARIA-award winning campaign, Voice of the Sea, raising awareness for the future of Australia's marine life. This year, he launched the Fantastical Sharks and Rays exhibition, in which he helped develop CI (children's imagination) instead of AI, and worked with some of Australia’s most prolific artists.

“The infinite potential of a creative mind to solve some of the world’s biggest problems. Young or old,” he recently told LBB.
