In Argentina, there’s a lot of love for Emanuel “Manu” Ginóbili. He is regarded as the best Argentinian basketball player ever to play for an NBA team. And he’s retiring.
For over 16 years wearing the #20 shirt for the San Antonio Spurs and in that time he has become in a loved and respected idol. In his Manu’s honour, the team announced that they would retire the #20 jersey too. No other Spurs' player will ever wear the emblematic number on his back.
Olé, is a huge sports newspaper in Argentina, and they too decided to join the tribute for the best Argentinian basketball player ever. In its October 17th edition, the day of the first NBA ´s team official game, they removed the #20 too. Page 20 of the newspaper, that is.
