Rembrandt Van Rijn passed away on 4th October, 1669, in a modest house located in a jewish neighbourhood on the outskirts of Amsterdam. By then, most of his property had been already auctioned off. The artist refused to pander to a painting manner, that was meant to flatter the clients. He was unable to leave hardly any heritage, but left a great legacy, that still astonishes the world. Sberbank, the oldest and the biggest bank in Russia, honored the great artist’s memory and invited the audience to discover his legacy in the exhibition “The Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Masterpieces of The Leiden Collection”
