Released on International Women's Day, Dirty Soup founder Raife Burchell, music supervised Mercedes Benz epic new commercial for Anorak and Antoni Berlin. 'The Journey that Changed Everything' is a four-minute film honouring Bertha Benz, the wife and business partner of Mercedes-Benz founder and automobile inventor Carl Benz.
Sebastian Strasser's film tells the story of her journey from Mannheim to Pforzheim, Germany, in 1888. Bertha took her two sons on the106km/65-mile trip - determined to prove the potential of her husband's invention - at a time when people were sceptical, even fearful of it.
After an extensive research period, the musical direction was settled upon, and Raife called on the composing talents of Grammy-winning, Emmy, and Bafta-nominated Lorne Balfe and Steffen Thum.
The film documents an empowering tale of triumph and self-belief, and Raife is thrilled to have been part of bringing Bertha's ground-breaking journey to life.
Pure and simple. You feel it. You don’t think it. It can win your heart without a word. It can connect us without touch or travel. It can lure, persuade and convince without you ever having to consider, decipher or discern. It can raise hope and heal.
I wanted to create an environment where this gift and its application could be explored like never before.
That’s why I started Dirty Soup in London in 2011.
Dirty Soup is a frontier. A place pushing the possibilities in every way from music supervision, original composition, orchestral arrangement, remix, sound design, and live event curation and production.
We’re always exploring, always pushing, and always feeling it.
Yours truly,
Raife Burchell.
