Background
Our very own Paul Mellor was an Exec-Producer for the movie Boiling Point. The critics have been very kind, giving it 4 stars across the board. It was in cinemas in the UK, US, France, Germany and Australia in Jan, Feb and March 2022.
It was number one on Netflix in the UK for 3 weeks and can now be found on AppleTV, Amazon Prime and of course Netflix. Oh and you can watch it the next time you're on a flight.
Awards
Advertising awards are lame, they're money spinners and the awards are either a popularity contest or influenced by companies 'buying' a table of 10 for the dinner. They're not impartial and unless the evening finishes with a fight in the bar then they're not really much craic.
But the BAFTA's are different... they're independent, they're on the telly 🤩 and your Mum's heard of them. So we were pumped when we had four beautiful BAFTA nominations for Boiling Point... eeeesh 🔥.
Oh and it was The Film Of The Week, for The Guardian and the BBC.
Synopsis
Based on the BIFA nominated short film by Philip Barantini and James Cummings. Enter the relentless pressure of a restaurant kitchen as a head chef (Stephen Graham) wrangles his team on the busiest day of the year. Shot in one continuous take, all 90 minutes of it!
Time Out says of Boiling Point
“The trick with running a restaurant is to make it look effortless. The diners should never see the sweat on your brow or feel the jolt of panic coursing through the kitchen as the turbot runs out… And they should definitely not hear a big-voiced, stressed-out Liverpudlian chef shouting: ‘Foook lad, sort it!’ at the cowed commis chef“.Read the article.
