Los Angeles-based Central Films North’s director Rodrigo Garcia Saiz mourns a life lived within the caution lines in the cinematic spot “The Return” for Time Out Mexico, out of DDB Mexico.
The black-and-white spot finds stoic faces and dreary movements among Amish relatives young and old as they gather for a funeral. A sullen elderly man approaches in a horse-drawn buggy and enters the room where the family has gathered, systematically nodding at onlookers as he passes by. He pauses to hand a youthful relative a Time Out magazine before he makes his final ascension to the vacant casket. With a simple glance, the boy assumes the unspoken challenge, pushing forward with a newfound sense of colourful exploration and fascination. The spot closes with the super, “The only thing you take, is what you live. Go out.”
