For director Max Wiedenhofer music videos are the most direct and emotional means of visual storytelling
Berlin-based commercial film production company BIGFISH produced an epic music video for singer Drangsal, also known as the “de Sade of German pop music”.
German press celebrated the video as an outstanding piece of diverse and non-conformist art, seen as being rather untypical for the music industry.
The video for the song “EINE GESCHICHTE/ UND DU? VOL. II“ was directed by Max Wiedenhofer and shot in Berlin. Wiedenhofer is an extremely talented producer of expressive music videos (Tocotronic) and at the same time a high-level professional in shooting commercial advertising clips.
This is what impressed the young singer who describes the collaboration with Wiedenhofer as working with an outstanding professional who delivered exactly what he was looking for: “He has an eye for particular things and I want precisely this in my videos. Everything you see in here is a product of Max Wiedenhofer. The shooting was pretty intense and I enjoyed it a lot.“
For director Max Wiedenhofer music videos are the most direct and emotional means of visual storytelling.
After Drangsal, the secondary protagonist is played by German superstar and badass actor Lars Eidinger, who is on the verge of going international. As Wiedenhofer was composing the video’s storyboard he could imagine only Lars Eidinger for the role and he was more than happy to get him.
The masterpiece has been announced and teasered on social media throughout a prologue by German painter Daniel Richter, using an oil painting which he created exclusively for the video.
