Slim Pictures' Bram Van Alphen directed this emotionally stirring film for agency Epidemie and NPH, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of Latin American children subjected to the horrors of poverty, violence and natural disasters on a daily basis. Scenes of children enduring the stress of these unfortunate circumstances are depicted with captivating imagery that lends an earnest sensitivity to their plight.
While the agency creatives came up with the concept for the spot and created the red balloon as a motif to represent hopes and dreams, Bram contributed to the writing and was given free rein to bring the film to life. It is interesting to note that most of the kids featured are not actors and are actually in the NPH program at the Cuernavaca centre in Mexico.
The spot debuted in January 2019.
