PRETTYBIRD UK have collaborated with director Ben Cole on ‘Rage’, the new music video for BRIT-nominee and UK breakthrough dance artist Charlotte Plank.
Starring Charlotte herself and her crew bringing the rave with them on a night out, the frenetic video matches the song’s fast-paced high energy - and features an unexpected narrative twist at its finale. ‘Rage’ was produced by Lottie Lindsay-Beavan out of PRETTYBIRD, with director Ben Cole shooting in some eclectic locations across London, and capturing an authentic sense of the city’s frenetic nightlife.
“This film is a little nod to the endless overlapping stories found on a London night out, and that communal hunt for the rave. There is spontaneity to it all. Thank you to my local kebab shop for letting 50 kids rave to drum and base!” Ben Cole
New single ’Rage’, out now via Black Butter Records, was one of Charlotte Plank’s most-anticipated records prior to its release - with fans begging her for months for its official release. The single is written and performed by Plank with production courtesy of Punctual and Champion.
‘Rage’ is the first new music to come from Charlotte this year, and follows her 2023 breakthrough singles Top 40 single ‘Rave Out’ and ‘Dancing Is Healing’ - her UK Top 5 hit single with Rudimental which is nominated for Song Of The Year at this year’s BRIT Awards.
Of the inspiration behind the single, Charlotte Plank says, “When writing ‘Rage’, I was heavily inspired by sounds from Pendulum and The Prodigy. I wanted the hypnotic, almost nursery rhyme-like vocal melody to captivate and hit the itch inside your brain. In that moment when you’re coming up in a rave and everything’s melting away around you, a certain song or sound almost steadies you, pulling you back in, injecting you with energy, riling you up to go for the rest of the night.”
Still only 22 years of age, Charlotte Plank’s star has risen in a remarkably short amount of time, owed to her unique pairing of pop-skewed vocals and song writing with harder underground drum & bass and '90s rave-inspired sounds. Coming from the Loud LDN collective which has given rise to several prominent new female artists such as Caity Baser, Piri and Venbee - Plank has been featured on numerous prestigious Ones To Watch lists including the NME100, Dmy’s Most Exciting Artists For 2023, The Independent’s 10 new music acts to watch in 2023, and MTV’s Push 2024 artists to watch for the year ahead.
