Colour studio Ethos adds Berlin-based colourist Marina Starke to its roster of talent for US representation.
Marina is acclaimed for her meticulous and innovative approach to film grading. A self-taught artist from a young age, she later earned a degree in audiovisual media engineering, where she published influential research titled 'The Visual Appearance of Skin in Motion Picture' in Finalcolor and Lowepost. Her work spans a wide range of genres, from celebrated series and feature films to award-winning music videos and commercials, showcasing her versatility and technical expertise. Marina’s ability to enhance storytelling through precise image shaping and texture refinement is a testament to her skill and artistic intuition. Known for her collaborative spirit, she thrives on pushing creative boundaries while maintaining a keen eye for detail. Her passion for the craft consistently results in visually captivating work that resonates with audiences and elevates every project she touches.
Her grades have won Best Color Grading in Music Video for her collaborations with Ásgeir’s “Snowblind,” which won an AICP, the Kinsale Sharks-winning “I Saw” by Young Fathers, and “HORRA” by Mayyas, which won at Filmlight Colour Awards. Marina worked with Netflix on the International Emmy-Award winning drama series “The Empress” as well as the feature film “Paradise” and the LGBTQIA+ historical documentary “Eldorado: Everything the Nazis Hate.” She has also color-graded the feature “Bang Bang,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2024, and the upcoming gritty Apple+ medical drama “KRANK Berlin.” Her commercial collaborations include spots for Sony, LELO, Coach, Mercedes, Nike, and Bose, among many others.
