This week, creative collective Le Truc, and IGNITE, a leading organisation encouraging young women to harness their political and civic engagement, announced the return of the 'No Masters Class by IGNITE' series. The fourth instalment features the unstoppable force of activism that many know as 'Little Miss Flint:' Mari Copeny and officially drops on Thursday, February 22nd.
The 'No Masters Class by IGNITE' series encourages gen z to become more involved in political activism and advocacy with free how-to videos hosted by gen z activists and influencers. Le Truc previously produced and launched the first three episodes featuring young activists Will Larkins, Sis, and Emily Flores, reaching their combined audience of over 50 thousand followers. For the newest episode, Le Truc and IGNITE have partnered with Mari Copeny, better known as 'Little Miss Flint,' who played a major role in bringing awareness and resources to her hometown of Flint, MI, during their major, and ongoing, water crisis.
As of 2019, 46 million Americans live in a state of water insecurity, two million of which have no basic access to clean drinking water and sanitation. Mari highlights continuous water scarcity in America as one of the top issues. She has raised over $1.7 million for various projects to provide clean bottled water, water filters, school supplies, and other necessities for the Flint community and nationwide. Before her potential presidential run in 2044, Mari is the next activist to share her wisdom with her peers, showing them how to speak up for their communities and find motivation for political participation from what they value most.
In the new episode, Mari shares the importance of finding an issue that speaks to the individual, the value in asking for help to execute your vision, and using your voice to find unexpected audiences, not unlike Mari garnering the attention of the POTUS at just eight years old.
Le Truc will be launching the pro-bono campaign nationally on IGNITE and Mari Copeny’s digital channels, including TikTok and YouTube, releasing the full episode on Thursday, February 22nd, with teasers dropping the day before.
