Full service creative agency Hijinks has created a new brand identity for WeRepresent, the talent agency that connects brands with culturally vibrant influencers. The new visuals and tone share the agency's mission to amplify the voices of those who have been traditionally marginalised in the entertainment industry and equip a wider community of creators, talent and allies to change the face of media.
Hijinks was briefed to create a brand identity that encapsulates the mission and purpose of WeRepresent, which is to champion underrepresented talent in media. The aim was also to stand out as a way to appeal to and support talent that wants to be a part of the change needed for future generations of media consumers.
The result is a brand identity that jumps from the screen in bright colours and lively shapes, fusing contrasting brights with complementary pastels. WeRepresent, or WRP, appears in shades that are hard to ignore. Complementing the eye-catching, colourful design, the supporting line ‘The People. The Culture. The Voice’ amplifies the message that WeRepresent stands for, finding talent from rich cultural heritages and shouting about it.
The playful letter forms float together fluidly with a joyful feeling of togetherness, while the language is visually rich but simplistic in its nature, celebrating its freedom from any constraints.
The new branding appears via multiple channels including print and digital media, aiming to catch the eye of branding, marketing and comms agencies looking for authentic voices with cultural integrity.
Vanessa Sawyer, co-founder and chief GSD Officer of WeRepresent says of the work, “The process with the team at Hijinks took the weight off our shoulders. We are the only multicultural women-owned agency in the UK and Hijinks is the first female and queer owned agency in the UK, so they get it! From the first chat to the first round, we were in love. The concept of multitudes was so right for us. It was all about how people come together and the multitude of cultures that exist. It was fabulous! Should I tell the truth and say I got emotional? I did!”
Marc Allenby and Tamryn Kerr, Hijinks co-founders and CCOs say, “We have created a joyful identity which reflects the positive tone of WeRepresent’s mission and commitment of representing the underrepresented voices in media. It was important to us that the identity felt good, fresh, fun, colourful, warm - and is forever looking forward to an empowering optimism. WeRepresent is progressive, and the brand ID hopefully matches the empowering spirit of this too.”
