Independent creative agency THE MAYOR announces today the appointment of Elizabeth Thompson and Jack Epsteen as director of strategy and director of production, respectively. Both roles are new for the company. Reporting to founder and CCO Tom Hamling, Elizabeth will be responsible for leading strategic thinking for client partners, new business prospects and THE MAYOR itself, while Jack will be leading the making of all work the shop produces.
“We are so lucky to have these two amazing people on our team,” said Tom. “They are smart, nice and relentless in their pursuit of unforgettable work. After working closely together for years, I’m so excited to do it again. We want to recreate the same magic we’ve always had to make our new clients rich and famous.”
Elizabeth has over 20 years of experience, developing Effie and Cannes-winning brand strategy on everything from local icons to Fortune 500s. She’s helped transform brands like Michaels Arts and Crafts, L.L.Bean, Pizza Hut and BMW. Most recently, Elizabeth was VP, executive strategy director at R/GA where she led a team of strategists across work for brands like Frito-Lay, Chase Bank, Fender, Tonal, and RaceTrac. Prior to R/GA, Elizabeth served as VP, strategy director at GSD&M.
“I am thrilled to be reunited with Tom and Jack working at THE MAYOR,” said Elizabeth. “Our agency is entirely focused on making creative for the people and that sets the strategy bar high. Consumers don’t wake up in the morning wondering what a brand is going to do. It’s our job to connect with the people we serve and make them care. It’s a strategist’s dream.”
With over 30 years of experience, Jack is an experienced creative across all aspects of the industry including advertising, digital and video, experiential and social production. He has a proven track record of producing and leading production on everything from the biggest Super Bowl commercials to scrappy social shoots. Prior to joining THE MAYOR, Jack was SVP, director of production at GSD&M, where he worked on award-winning campaigns for Pizza Hut, Dodge, Southwest Airlines and Avocados from Mexico.
“Over the course of my career, I’ve always loved exploring emerging technologies and making cool things that drive business,” said Jack. “Now at THE MAYOR, I want to push the boundaries of what creative is all about. We’re already well underway with Consumer Cellular and Famous Footwear. I’m excited to see what comes next.”
Elizabeth and Jack will work across THE MAYOR’s full client roster, which includes Consumer Cellular, Famous Footwear and some yet to be named clients.
