THE MAYOR has tapped former GSD&M CDs and 2019 Adweek Creative 100 honorees Leigh Muzslay Browne and Jon Williamson as their first creative hires after some soon-to-be-announced new business wins.
Leigh and Jon are excited to be reuniting with Tom Hamling, who founded THE MAYOR a year ago. The independent agency that promises “creative for the people,” is based in Nashville, but Leigh and Jon will work remote from Austin.
“It’s been an awesome first year and we’re thrilled to be in the position to have Jon and Leigh help us make brands rich and famous” Tom said. “We’ve been friends and teammates for a long time. They know us. We know them. We have the same work ethic and creative bar. All of those things are huge wins for THE MAYOR and our clients.”
The trio worked together extensively at GSD&M. In 2021, they won the Grand Effie Award and seven Cannes Lions for starting the Popeyes “Chicken Wars.” Before that, their Super Bowl work for Avocados from Mexico won at D&AD and AICP while helping the brand double their business.
In addition, the work they’ve made together has been honoured by The One Show, Clios, Art Directors Club Awards, Ad Age Creativity Awards and the Webby Awards.
Jon and Leigh have also led campaigns for Pizza Hut, Capital One and Walgreens. They’ve been partners since meeting in advertising graduate school at The University of Texas in Austin.
