LinkedIn’s latest campaign, made in partnership with production company Strike Anywhere, aims to inspire the workforce to break free from their current career paths and pursue new opportunities. Directed by John Larigakis, the series of spots offers a surreal yet relatable take on the feeling of being overly comfortable that many workers experience and highlights LinkedIn’s employment features as a tool for change.
Renewing their collaborative relationship, LinkedIn’s brand team approached Strike Anywhere with the creative for the campaign. Known for their highly adaptable and artistically inventive producing capabilities, Strike Anywhere aligned LinkedIn’s messaging with its product, marketing, and production while developing the intricately detailed world of these commercials. Exquisitely crafted, perfectly surreal, and completely believable, “Cabinet” and “Wallpaper” meld concepts from LinkedIn’s Brand Team with Strike Anywhere’s incredible production capabilities and film direction from John Larigakis.
The magical realism of these films stems from the arresting visuals met with understated performances, illustrating the feeling of being stuck or complacent with one’s job. The professionals in these commercials have found themselves in a profound state of inertness, to the point where they literally have become one with the office cabinet and wallpaper, respectively. Leveraging LinkedIn’s employment features like Open To Work and Job Collections, a satisfying moment of relief is achieved when the characters break free from their surroundings, moving onward to broader horizons and greater opportunities.
“We wanted to turn the feeling of complacency into something visually striking, and I can’t think of a better brand to own that metaphor than LinkedIn,” remarks the films’ director, Strike Anywhere’s John Larigakis. “There’s a magic that happens when the strange meets the familiar, so we aimed for a balance of relatable emotion and slightly absurd imagery that would be hard to ignore.”
