New Middle-Earth: Shadow of War TV Spots Secretly Shot in Lisbon Now Released

Middle-earth: Shadow of War - the action role-playing video game developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, launched two new TV commercials last week.

The films centre on two Orcs who are either determined to seek revenge or repay their debt in the physical realm of everyday life.  NOTHING WILL BE FORGOTTEN!

The commercials bring the fantasy world of Middle-Earth Orcs into the everyday world of our two humans protaganists, Brian and Jerry.

We see Brian and Jerry’s life-long ordeals with their Orc’s  which are the consequence of one decision they made whilst playing SHADOW OF WAR where NOTHING WILL BE FORGOTTEN.

Directed by Tim Bullock for Ruffian USA, Tim says of the Orcs – “Cross one, and they’ll never let it slide, but do one a favour and they’re your ugly, ruthless, 8-foot tall, built-like-a-mountain friend for life.”

The Orcs required hours of prosthetics prior to filming.  But it wasn’t just the Orcs - to appear as if filmed over the course of 50 years, the humans - Brian and Jerry - also required prosthetic ageing throughout the commercials to show 50 years of their lives.

Filming in Portugal, PAGE INTERNATIONAL SERVICES provided all the local production services for this international project, shooting in and around Lisbon, with an array of different SFX requirements, from sinking boats, smashing up cars, pyrotechnics and many other stunts.

It was very important for Warner Bros, that all the crew understood the secrecy surrounding the project. “It was difficult…” explains Nick Roycroft. “…when an 8ft Orc is setting fire to a mobility scooter in the middle of a housing estate but we worked very hard with all our crew to keep this project confidential and we are very pleased to have played our role in these very enjoyable and amusing commercials".
