Santiago Mitre is back to filming advertisements with argentinacine after taking time to focus on fiction, with his latest work being “Argentina, 1985,” which was nominated for an Oscar, among many other awards.
Santiago’s film career began with "El Estudiante" (2011), which won the Special Jury Prize at the Locarno Film Festival and participated in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the New York Film Festival (NYFF), among others. In 2015, his film "Paulina" won the Grand Prize at the Critics' Week and the FIPRESCI Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
His film "Petite Fleur" (2022), shot in France, was honoured as the opening film at the Buenos Aires Film Festival and served as the closing film at the Sitges Film Festival.
Santiago’s fifth feature film, "Argentina, 1985" (2022), premiered in the International Competition at the Venice Biennale, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize. The film received a Golden Globe, the Academy of Critics award, and the Goya Award, and garnered nominations for Best International Feature Film at both the BAFTA Awards and the Academy Awards.
Santiago has filmed numerous commercials for clients such as Banco Galicia, Quilmes, Direct TV, Personal, among others.
