Food Basics evolves WOWZA! with help from Open

Ontario grocer, Food Basics, has launched a new TV and digital campaign to promote their biggest savings event. 

Since the campaign’s inception in 2018, WOWZA! has continued to evolve, but remains the same at its core - unbelievably low  prices that cause customers to spontaneously blurt out the fun, five letter word. The latest spot sees those already familiar with the event on the hunt for the next great deal. This time, the savings make them say ‘Totally WOWZA!’ and ‘Hot diddly WOWZA!’. The excitement is real. The surprise of a low price is part of the fun, as is the evolution of the event. 

WOWZA! is considered by more than half of Ontario customers as the event that offers really good deals. And Food Basics customers know this. “It’s always great to work on and produce creative that’s grounded in a truth; WOWZA! is a great savings event for the Food Basics shopper, so we can have fun bringing it to life,” said Anne Ngo, director of client service at Open. 

“At Food Basics, we’re thrilled to see our WOWZA! event become a household name for unbeatable deals. Our latest campaign ‘Totally WOWZA!’ not only captures the genuine surprise and joy our customers feel when they see our low prices, but it also reinforces our commitment to providing the best value in the market,” said Mathieu Robitaille, head of marketing, Metro Ontario Inc. 

With the launch of our new commercial, we creatively illustrate our commitment to upholding our recent recognition as “the grocer with the best competitive prices” as recently reported by Leger WOW Study,” said Katie Chan, director of marketing, Food Basics. 

The new campaign will run into early June and includes TV, digital, radio, in-store POS and a social contest called WOWZA! Sweep.
