Steve Stricker Shows How His “Boring” Golf Game Created Brilliant Outcomes in PNC Bank Film

PNC Bank has teamed up with golf champion Steve Stricker for the second installment of “Boring Before Brilliance,” a film series – featuring athletes, artists, and musicians – that provides an inside look into the boring moments and rituals that fuel brilliant outcomes. 

The docu-style film interviews Steve, professional golfer and player at this year’s PNC Championship, about the unseen, mundane, and often rigorous details that go into the exacting sport of golf. 

The two-time Comeback Player of the Year explains how relying on his short game ultimately helped him battle back from losing his Tour Card in 2005 – he was ranked #324 – to winning his fourth PGA Tour title and becoming the #4 player in 2007.

“If someone calls me boring, or my game boring, it’s not a negative to me at all,” said Steve. “It proved to work for me. And boring can transition very quickly into brilliant.”

The series was created in partnership with creative AOR Arnold and DLP Media Group, the award-winning production company behind ESPN’s “30 for 30,” among other sports-focused documentaries. The first installment of the series featured IndyCar racer Scott Dixon.

The goal of the campaign is to connect with golf fans through PNC’s shared passion for golf, further solidifying PNC’s commitment to its “Brilliantly Boring” philosophy – highlighting how PNC’s reliable and responsible approach to banking results in exciting and fulfilling outcomes for its customers. 

The video series includes both long & short versions that will run on social media this month as a lead up to the PNC Championship tournament held in Orlando on 12/19-12/22.
