This engaging viral stunt was achieved by The Berry firstly by filming a plate shot of talent playing a game of football, with Wembley Stadium’s iconic arch standing proudly in the background (alluding to the Emirates FA Cup final). This involved working with a talented cast, who practised, rehearsed and eventually performed the perfect shot (not only in the camera, but with the ball!)
The next step was to rotoscope and match-move the plate footage, which involved the meticulous removal of an entire building site that blocked a considerable amount of the Wembley arch. Then, the team created a photorealistic sequence of a 3D goal post breaking in half. The Berry used real goal posts as a reference to work out the size, shape and geometry of the 3D goal post, and how it would be animated to break under the impressive impact of the Ultimax Pro ball.
The combination of perfect plate footage, the impressive performance from talent, and all of The Berry’s post-production efforts, resulted in an absolutely photo-real and believable film that not only showcases the Ultimax Pro and how it interacts naturally with its surroundings, but also shocked viewers all over the Internet and created a huge buzz ahead of the FA Cup final! With views rising with every passing hour, it has already amassed over two million plays, with fans debating its authenticity in the comments section.
