Droga5 created 'Crafted For Greatness' so that viewers could really see the high level of creativity and ingenuity that went into this contest
Yesterday in New York, Quilted Northern teamed up with Cheap Chic Weddings threw the bath-tissue battle: the 2017 Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest. More than a thousand cushy marital gowns entered, but only 10 finalists were chosen to put their handcrafted fashion to the test in the Big Apple. The winner was Kari Curletto of Las Vegas, Nevada.
These dressmakers were only allowed to use glue, string and some Quilted Northern Ultra Plush toilet paper to craft their beautiful creations. The process, the competition and travelling across the country is all very exciting for the toilet-paper dressmakers, but what about the actual toilet paper? How does it feel? Did it dream of becoming a dress?
To spread the word about the art of toilet-paper dressmaking, Droga5 created “Crafted For Greatness,” a film that explores the heartwarming tale of a small-town Ultra Plush roll whose dreams take her from the bathroom to the showroom. Throughout her journey to the runway, the film weaves in actual dressmaking techniques and an actual toilet-paper wedding dress so that viewers really see the level of craft that goes into this contest.
